EASTLEIGH boss Richard Hill strongly denies suggestions that he swore at the referee during Saturday’s 2-1 Blue Square Bet South defeat at Sutton United.
Although Hill makes no secret of his frustratation that three big decisions made by referee Ian Cooper had a huge bearing on the result, he takes issue with claims that he was sent to the stand because he called the official a “f****** disgrace’.
“I’ve been in football long enough to know that when you challenge a referee, as soon as you swear, you’ve got no chance and I didn’t swear at the ref,” he said.
“But it does bother me that referees continually get big decisions wrong that affect the outcome of matches and people’s livelihoods.
“It was a close game that hinged on three decisions and I’ve not come across a game yet this season – including at our place – where the ref has put in a strong performance for the away team.”
