Eastleigh have made their second signing of the January transfer window with AFC Bournemouth defender Joe Partington joining on loan for a month following the capture of Brian Howard on Friday.

Former Portsmouth player Partington, who has been capped for Wales at under 17, 19 and 21 level, moved to the Cherries in 2006 and has now arrived at the Silverlake Stadium where Eastleigh are pushing for a play-off finish in the Vanarama Conference.

The 24-year-old has made more than 50 appearances for Bournemouth and has also had loan spells at Eastbourne Borough and Aldershot Town.

Ex-Reading star and local lad Howard has signed a deal until the end of this campaign.

And manager Richard Hill has continued his busy start to the window by allowing midfielders Jamie Collins and Stuart Fleetwood to exit the Silverlake Stadium ahead of their Conference match at home against Altrincham this afternoon.

A statement on the club's official website, said: "With a busy couple of days in the opening of the transfer window, both Stuart Fleetwood and Jamie Collins were made available to be able to talk to other clubs with regards to their futures.

"We believe that both players have spoken to other clubs and it is highly likely that both players will have signed before today’s match registration deadline and could appear in their respective team line ups this afternoon.

"We thank both players for their contributions to Eastleigh Football Club and wish them well for their future."

It has transpired that attacker Fleetwood has rejoined his former charges and the Spitfires' Vanarama Conference rivals Forest Green Rovers on loan for the rest of the season, while Collins has signed for Sutton United.

Fleetwood has made 27 appearances for Eastleigh this term, scoring four goals. The ex-Charlton, Hereford United, Cardiff man joined in the summer of 2013 and was considered a major coup for the club.

The 28-year-old, who also played for Luton, Exeter, Cheltenham and Brighton & Hove, was a big part of the side that won the Skrill South last term, helping the Spitfires to a historical 2014 in which they have played at the elite levle of the non-league for the first time in their history.

All necessary paperwork has been completed for him to potentially make his debut for The New Lawn club against Welling this afternoon.

Fleetwood tweeted, after posting a picture of his new Rovers shirt: "Also a massive thank you and good luck to all at @eastleighfc! Loved my time there and wish you all the best for the future."

The former Havant & Waterlooville player joined in the summer 2013 but has now joined a number of ex-Spitfires at Sutton United, including Glen Southam and former Silverlake boss Paul Doswell.
