MATT Gray, formerly Ian Baird's right-hand man at Eastleigh, has been installed as caretaker assistant manager of Aldershot Town.
He will work alongside club captain Chris Barker, who has been placed in temporary charge after the Shots relieved manager Andy Scott and assistant Terry Bullivant of their duties.
The shake-up followed last night's 1-0 home defeat by Kidderminster which left the north Hampshire side - including ex-Spitfires marksman Brett Williams - 18th in the Vanarama Conference.
A Shots statement said: "The club recognise and are grateful for Andy’s contribution to Aldershot Town FC through a very difficult period of relegation and administration, but have now taken this tough decision to safeguard the team’s immediate prospects in the Vanarama Conference.
"Until a permanent new manager can be appointed, club captain Chris Barker will take charge of the first-team, assisted by coach Matt Gray.
"The club hope that supporters will give their full backing to Chris, and will be unified behind a new manager in building a successful future for Aldershot Town."
