Eastleigh have signed vastly experienced striker Deon Burton on a deal until the end of the season.

Burton, who has 56 caps and 12 goals for Jamaica and played at the 1998 World Cup, arrives at the Silverlake Stadium following his release from League One club Scunthorpe United. 

The 38-year-old has played in the Premier League for Derby County, making more than 100 apperances for the Rams, and has a wealth of Football League experience.

He commanded a £1.5m price tag in 1997 when he switched Portsmouth for County.

The Reading born frontman, started his career at Pompey as a youth player before playing almost 90 games at Fratton Park during three separate spells at the club. 

The 5ft 9inch striker also made more 100 appearances for Sheffield Wednesday and has played for Cardiff City, Brentford, Charlton Athletic, Gillingham, Stoke City and Swindon Town among a string of former clubs.

Burton has also played Azerbaijani side Gabala FK, but most recently turned out for York City in League Two. He played two games for the Minstermen before a knee injury ended his time there.

He has also played five games for the Iron in League One before his release from Glanford Park last week by mutual consent.

Burton, who hasn't played competitively since November 8, has played for 15 clubs in a journeyman career and will join an already experienced Spitfires side.

He becomes Eastleigh's fifthh signing in the space of a month after Joe Partingon, Brian Howard, Harry Pell and Dan Walker all joined the play-off chasing Vanarama Conference outfit.
