EASTLEIGH have signed 19-year-old midfielder Sam Matthews on loan from Premier League outfit AFC Bournemouth for the remainder of the season.

Matthews has already had experience in the National League this term, playing 13 games and scoring one goal during a three-month spell with the Spitfires' divisional rivals Braintree Town.

He signed professional forms for the Cherries in 2014 after making first-team appearances against Real Madrid and West Ham.

More transfer news is expected from the Silverlake Stadium later with the club reporting: “It has been a busy trading day at Eastleigh FC. There are several ongoing negotiations this afternoon.”

One may well involve striker Mikael Mandron, who has been linked with a possible move to Championship strugglers Wigan.
