FORMER Eastleigh boss Chris Todd has been appointed assistant manager of Truro City.

The White Tigers, 17th in the National League South, parted company with player-coach Rory Fallon by mutual consent in December.

Now Todd, who joined Truro in October on a short-term playing contract, will be manager Lee Hodges’ right-hand man at Treyew Road.

“I’m really pleased Chris has accepted this role,” said Hodges. “It’s great to have his knowledge and know-how on board.

“He’s been with us for a few months now and the players really respect him, so they too are happy that he has stepped up to replace Rory.

“It’s the right thing to do and a real boost for the club.

“I’ve known Chris for a long time and it’s now going to be a case of getting our heads together and ensuring we can start to get some wins under our belt to move up the table.

“It’s a really positive appointment for the club.”

Todd, who succeeded Richard Hill as Eastleigh boss, made history with the club last season when he steered them into the FA Cup third round for the first time ever.

But the Spitfires failed to make the National League play-offs and, after a stuttering start to the current campaign, the highly popular former Exeter and Torquay defender was sacked after just four games.

Truro have now offered him a route back into management and Devon-based Todd told the club website: “When I first came here it was an opportunity for me to continue my playing career, but the way things have panned out it has presented me with the chance to take this role.

“It’s a challenge that I have accepted with relish and excitement. I enjoy nothing more than working with players and helping to develop them."
