Murray resigns as Eastleigh chairman

First published in Eastleigh FC

PAUL Murray has resigned as chairman of Eastleigh Football Club with immediate effect.

In a statement released today, he said: “I recently sold my shares in Eastleigh Football Club when the directors of Bridle Insurance were acquiring a majority stakeholding in the club. “I also stood down as chairman at that time to assume the role of non-executive chairman. However, I feel that it is now time for me to move on.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my involvement with Eastleigh Football Club over many years. I lived in Eastleigh as a teenager, I went to college in Eastleigh, I have worked in Eastleigh for 46 years and still work here.

"I have a great affinity for the town and have therefore have been pleased to be of service to the local football club.

“I wish everybody at the club well. The club is in good hands with Stewart (Donald) and Neil (Fox). They are young, dynamic, visionary, well funded and have a good knowledge of the game. I will watch with interest the progress the club will make under their leadership.”

A statement from the Eastleigh board said: “We would like to thank Paul for all his hard work and commitment.

“He has been a superb ambassador and worked tirelessly over the years for the good of the club. He leaves us in good shape to move forward both on and off the pitch and his contribution in this can not be over emphasised.”

Loud & Proud EFC says...

It says a lot for Paul. That I have had messages from fans of most teams in the BSS. Saying what a welcoming man he was.Allways having a chat with away supporters @ the 'Lake.
Eastleigh FC will be a poorer place without him.

Thank you Paul for all you have done for us supporters as well
