FORMER Saint Micky Adams has been appointed manager of League One side Brighton & Hove Albion today.

The 46-year-old had been interviewed for the Saints job after George Burley left to take charge of the Scottish national team in January, but lost out to Nigel Pearson.

Adams, who made nearly 200 appearances for Saints from 1989 to 1994, had a successful spell with the Seagulls from 1999 to 2001, when he took them out of the old Third Division.

Adams had been out of work since parting ways with Coventry in January 2007.

He said: "Having worked at the club previously, which was a fantastic and rewarding experience, to get the chance to manage a super football club like Brighton & Hove Albion again was an opportunity I couldn't turn down."
