ALRESFORD Town are through to the quarterfinals of the Hampshire FA Senior Cup for the first time in their history after beating Aldershot Town 2- 1 at Arlebury Park.
The Magpies trailed 1-0 to a youthful Shots side at half-time after Reece Beckles-Richards had opened the scoring.
But it wasn’t for want of trying by the Sydenhams Premier Division hosts who were twice foiled by Town’s first-choice keeper Ross Warner, who is working his way back to npower League Two fitness after eight months out with a back injury.
Chris Manning and Zach Glasspool were the men who forced those saves and it was the same duo that won the game for Alresford after the break.
With Luke Williams replacing Warner in the Shots goal, Manning was the first to beat him in the 49th minute, volleying home after good work by Warren Bentley down the right.
Ten minutes later Glasspool netted a sublime lob to carry the merry Magpies into the last eight.
