SHOLING are through to the third qualifying round of the FA Trophy after beating Dereham Town 2- 0 at Aldiss Park last night.

The original tie had to be abandoned with 20 minutes left on Saturday because of thick fog at the Magpies’ ground.

So for the second time in four days Dave Diaper’s side traipsed 200-miles up to Norfolk for the rescheduled game.

And the FA Vase holders made sure there wasn’t to be any more travelling between the two clubs.

A Kevin Brewster freekick gave the Boatmen a 1- 0 lead within five minutes of kick-off.

Then, just past the hour, Nick Watts planted a header home, setting up a third qualifying round match against Conference South side Farnborough at the Silverlake Arena on November 29.

In the Red Insure Cup AFC Totton were defeated 4-1 by Southern Premier Division table toppers Poole Town.

Dan Munday gave the Dolphins the lead on 21 minutes. But the Stags worked hard and were still only one down at the break. The second half saw Steve Riley’s men collapse in a lethal seven minute spell by the Dorset side.

First, Jack Maloney doubled their lead on 53 minutes, slotting home through a crowded box.

Then Marvin Brooks netted the third two minutes later before ex- Testwood Stadium favourite Luke Roberts buried the fourth on the hour mark, on his return to the Stags.

Riley’s side didn’t give up though and piled on the pressure, hitting the bar in process.

But when Taylor Edwards finally scored three minutes from time it was already too late.

Meanwhile, Eastleigh face a trip to Merseyside club Southport in the second round of the FA Cup after their Vanarama Conference Premier rivals beat Dagenham & Redbridge 2-0 in their first round replay last night.

Basingstoke Town were knocked out of the FA Cup by AFC Telford United 2-1 at New Bucks Head Stadium in their first round replay.

Former Eastleigh and Gosport player Jamie Brown was sent-off for a second bookable offence in that match.

Elsewhere, Gosport Borough came away 3-1 winners at Bath City and, in the Russell Cotes Cup, Blackfield & Langley won 2-1 against Overton.
