FORMER Sholing Vase winner Mike Carter struck for the second time in two games as Gosport Borough maintained their superb run.

Carter was among the goals as the Conference South high fliers romped to a 4-0 FA Trophy win at Ryman League side Peacehaven & Telscombe.

Ex-Hamble man Rory Williams, one-time Saints academy midfielder Tom Dunford and Paco Saez also scored as Gosport, beaten finalists at Wembley last season in the tournament, comfortably reached the first round proper.

It was Carter’s third goal of the season after moving from Sholing in the summer, and his second in five days after netting in a 3-0 league win at Ebbsfleet the previous Tuesday.

Alex Pike’s Gosport have now won 12 of their last 17 league and cup matches, drawing four and losing just one – and the defeat was against three divisions higher Colchester United in the first round of the FA Cup.
