LYMINGTON Town assistant manager Nic Jones played his first game in goal for a year last night – and starred in a Hampshire FA Senior Cup penalty shoot-out coup at Moneyfields.

The New Forest outfit trailed 2-0 inside 20 minutes at Dover Road but hit back through Jake Bockhart and a last-gasp James Davis leveller to force penalties.

Lymington emerged 5-4 victors with Jones making two fine saves and Tom Man plundering the winner.

“We travelled with a depleted squad but, no matter who we put out, this side never know when they’re beaten,” smiled proud boss John Pyatt.

In another all-Sydenhams third round tie, Winchester City ran out handsome 4-0 winners at Blackfield & Langley thanks to Warren Bentley’s hat-trick and a stunning team goal finished by Adam Roberts.

Petersfield Town were outclassed 7-1 at home by Conference South visitors Farnborough. Phil Page (3), Duncan Culley (2) and Dan Bennett (2) inflicted the damage with Jamie Ford replying.

Jesse Waller-Lassen gave Team Solent an early lead against AFC Bournemouth, but the young Cherries hit back for a 4-1 win through Jayden Stockley (2), Callum Buckley and Ryan Fraser.

In the all-Conference South derby at Privett Park, Gosport Borough claimed local bragging rights as Justin Bennett and ex-Sholing marksman Lee Wort punished slack defending to see off Havant & Waterlooville 2-0.

Two more quarter-final berths will be claimed tonight when Sholing entertain Tadley Calleva and Whitchurch take on Fleet Town.

The Horndean versus Eastleigh tie is on December 16.

Horndean showed their knockout credentials last night, beating Fareham Town 5-2 in the Sydenhams League Cup - Ashley Harris (3) and Harry Potter on target.
