ALEX Baldacchino has got his wish of finding a club closer to his Portsmouth home.
Having parted company with reigning FA Vase and Sydenhams Premier champions Sholing shortly before Christmas, the nomadic striker is ready to write a new chapter in his sharp-shooting career with Graham Rix’s AFC Portchester.
A former Havant & Waterlooville youth prospect, Baldacchino has clocked up the miles in recent seasons playing for New Milton, Poole Town, Blackfield & Langley and, more recently, Southern League new boys Sholing.
But his chance to shine at Portsmouth Road was sabotaged by a niggling ankle problem, albeit that he still scored four first-team goals from limited starts and sub appearances and also found the net four times for Sholing’s reserves.
Relishing the chance to make his mark with Portchester, Baldacchino said: “I’m looking forward to a new challenge and settling at a club where I can really find my feet, play regularly and score goals.”
