GRAHAM Kemp said he had no regrets about taking the job as Dorchester Town manager - despite lasting just four months in the Avenue hot-seat.

But the former Christchurch and Winchester City boss admitted he was “absolutely devastated” to be moving on.

Kemp leaves the county town outfit two places off the bottom of the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division following 12 defeats from his 19 league matches in charge.

“It was a very tough decision to make,” he said. “I’m absolutely devastated because in the time I was there I loved managing Dorchester.

“I felt I had an affinity with the club as soon as I walked through the door for the first time, and every time after that I was proud to be Dorchester manager.

“I have no regrets at all about taking the job, though it would have been good if I’d had a pre-season to get started.

“I had to wheel and deal to bring players in and when results don’t go your way you are less likely to have time in the job to put things right.

Magpies’ chairman Matt Lucas said: “I felt Graham was like a breath of fresh air.

“He is a genuinely nice guy and it was a shame things didn’t go his way.

“He was popular with the players and those people who worked at the club on a daily basis.”

Club officials were due to meet last night to discuss Kemp’s replacement.
