EX-SAINT Jamie White has got his mojo back.

And that spells ominous news for anyone looking to keep pace with Blackfield & Langley in the Sydenhams Premier Division title race.

The prolific 26-year-old scored twice on Saturday as the Watersiders maintained their 100 per cent start to the season with a 3-1 victory at Andover Town.

Andover, under the new management of ex-Blackfield boss Glenn Burnett, stunned their high-flying hosts by taking a 22nd-minute lead – Liam Gilbert’s free-kick rebounding for Shane Lock to bury.

But Blackfield kept their cool and equalised ten minutes later when good play by Ryan Murray and Liam Robinson teed up White’s first goal.

And, come half-time, the prolific marksman had taken his season’s tally to 14 in 11 matches following a superb lay-off from John Cole.

Victory was crowned when winger Carl Preston left his marker for dead down the left and crossed for Robinson to strike from close range.

Blackfield 'keeper Brad Snelling made a couple fine saves, denying Lock from close range and then turning a curling free kick by new Town signing Javi Santafe Vivo, from Folland Sports, onto the woodwork.

“It was a tough game,” said Blackfield assistant boss Chris Farrell.

“Glenn (Burnett) being at Andover didn’t have any bearing because the only player left from when he was with us is Joe Byrne.

“Joe, Jamie White and John Cole were excellent.

“It wasn’t free-flowing, it was a tough, physical contest, a good game to get out of the way.

“It was one of those we'd probably have lost last season after conceding that sort of goal, but we stuck at it and played our football.”

Blackfield will look to make it eight league wins out of eight at home to Newport IoW this Saturday, but it’s the following two games at Gang Warily that really catch the eye.

On September 24 they host second-placed Moneyfields and then fourth-placed Sholing visit on October 1.

“It won’t decide who wins the league, but it will be interesting,” said Farrell.

Moneyfields kept the pressure on with a 2-1 home win over Portland – Ashley Harris and Gary Austin the scorers. Moneys' Curtis Da Costa was taken to hospital with a dislocated shoulder.
