RINGWOOD Town had no answer to Will Tickle as the in-form winger fired Brockenhurst through to the FA Vase second qualifying round at Grigg Lane on Saturday.

The former Team Solent and Lymington Town wideman weighed in with a hat-trick as the Badgers eased past their Sydenhams One visitors 5-0.

In Tickle and Mark Barker, Brock possess two of the most feared wingers in the Wessex top flight and manager Pat McManus was not surprised that Ringwood found the pair too hot to handle.

“In order to play against us you’ve got to have two very good full-backs because we’ve got two very good wingers,” he said.

“Not a lot of teams in our division can cope with those two lads, so I wouldn’t expect teams from a division below to be able to.”

Tickle struck twice in the first half and, having put Brock 3-0 up direct from a free-kick shortly after the break, he was withdrawn from the action.

Further goals from Barker and Mitch Speechley-Price followed – but only after McManus had given his team a half-time talking-to.

“We created a lot of opportunities early only and didn’t take them,” he said.

“The lads must have thought I was a bit of lunatic at half-time. We were 2-0 up and I was moaning. But we can’t let our standards slip. I have to point things out that we need to improve.”

Brock’s Vase journey will continue away to the winners of the rained-off Bournemouth Poppies versus Verwood Town tie which has been rearranged for tomorrow (Tuesday).

The fifth-placed Badgers are in SWL Premier action at home to Hamworthy United tomorrow, looking to avenge a 2-1 FA Cup defeat at the hands of the Hammers.
