FAWLEY AFC were the unfortunate victims as Fareham Town clocked up their most emphatic away win in over four years on Saturday.

The Creeksiders’ 7-2 Sydenhams Premier success on the Waterside was their best since hitting seven at Hamworthy United in January 2012.

It was a remarkable response from Steve Stone’s men who were reeling from four straight league defeats and a 4-1 midweek beating at Eversley & California in the Hampshire FA Senior Cup (HSC).

Harry Weeks bagged his first two goals for the club, Simon Woods and Ashley Tattersall netted for the first time in the league this season and Callum Laycock and Matt Andrews were also on target.

Fawley, who host Alton Town in the HSC second round on Wednesday (7.45pm), have dual-signed Eastleigh scholar Richard Cooper.

Lymington Town are already in the hat for the HSC third round after beating Guernsey-based Northerners 3-2.
