ALRESFORD Town bounced back from behind for a 2-1 Sydenhams Premier win at managerless Amesbury on Saturday.

The Wiltshire hosts, rocked by the midweek departure of team boss Jim Macey, took an early second-half lead through sub Mike Weatherall.

Chris Mason levelled for the Magpies from a Tom Sands knockdown and Sam Burt's cool finish completed the comeback.

Alresford tomorrow (Tuesday, 7.45pm) travel to Southern One Central outfit Fleet Town in the semi-finals of the North Hants Senior Cup.

The winners will face Tadley Calleva who beat Winchester Castle 4-1.

Amesbury - away to Blackfield & Langley in the league this Saturday - have shut the door on applications for the vacant manager's job.

A February 5 deadline was set by the Blues following some strong, early interest in the post.

*BRADEY Norton is rapidly making up for lost time with Fareham Town.

After a year out with a knee injury, he has scored three times in his first two games back.

Having warmed up with a goal in a 2-2 home draw with Verwood, Norton netted twice on Saturday as the Reds did their Sydenhams Premier survival hopes the power of good with a 2-1 triumph at Poppies.

He grabbed the opener from an 11th-minute corner and struck again from the penalty spot early in the second half.

Bournemouth halved the arrears with a Sami Makhloufi penalty and when the referee pointed to the spot yet again for another foul on Woods, Norton looked good for a hat-trick.

But this time the 22-year-old’s finishing let him down as his effort was saved by the ‘keeper.

A superb double stop from goalkeeper Luke Douglas protected Fareham’s slender lead, making it four games unbeaten under new boss Pete Stiles, whose side are up to 17th.

THERE was a welcome boost too for second-to-bottom Whitchurch whose 3-1 triumph at Bemerton halted an eight-game win-less league run.

Former Romsey striker Danny Phillips gave the Jam Boys a fifth-minute lead which Luke Walker doubled after the break.

Scott Joyce pulled one back for the Harlequins before Walker scored his second of the game.
