HARRISON Fay came back to haunt his old Andover Town teammates on Saturday as Blackfield & Langley clung onto second spot in the Sydenhams Premier Division with a 2-1 Gang Warily win.

When Zach Glasspool fired Andover into a first-half lead, it was no less than the visitors deserved for a positive start to the game.

But Blackfield equalised around the hour mark when ex-Saint Jamie White smashed in his 27th goal of another prolific campaign.

And it was young Fay, who recently switched from Andover to Gang Warily, who beat Town ’keeper Lloyd Thomas for the Watersiders’ winner just six minutes later.

Andover peppered the Blackfield goal in the closing stages, but home ’keeper Brad Snelling repelled everything they could throw at him as the visitors’ five-match unbeaten run petered out.

Fay is still officially a Winchester City player and has been gradually climbing the Wessex table during his time out on 'loan'.

He initially dual-signed for relegation-battling Fawley before climbing into mid-table with Andover.

Now he is enjoying the high life with second-placed Blackfield, who sit ten points behind league leaders Moneyfields with a game in hand.

“Harrison’s been from pillar to post this season, but it’s all good experience for him,” said Winchester boss Ian Saunders.

“If we get to the point where we’re going to be nowhere near the (Southern One South & West) play-offs, a couple of the young players we’ve sent out will come back to us so that we know where we are for next season.”

Blackfield coach James Ford said: “We’d been looking at Harrison for 18 months ever since he came through at Winchester City and he’s a local lad, which is good for us.

“Harrison's well thought of at Winchester, but these boys need to be playing competitive football. It’s no good them being in the reserves or on the bench.

“When I was a pro (at AFC Bournemouth) you’d play in the reserves and pass, pass, pass, but once you get in the first team it’s all about winning and it’s important these lads learn that.

“If we can provide a platform for young players like Harrison, we will.”
