BUSH Hill have been crowned champions of the Puma Engineering Hampshire Premier League for the first time.

The Southampton-based club travelled to rock-bottom Stockbridge in midweek needing only a point to win the title.

They claimed a 2-0 success - their 21st league win in 24 matches - thanks to Jack Jewel’s first-half opener and John Macauley’s second-half strike.

Bush, who have four games left, are now 16 points clear of second placed Liphook, and still have two games in hand on them.

Stockbridge sportingly tweeted: “Congratulations to @BushHillFC1 winning the @pehpl with games to spare! Top side and fully deserved.”

Luke Faithfull struck a hat-trick as Hedge End Rangers drew 3-3 at third placed Hayling United. Duncan Brown (2) and Andy Brown replied.

*Hamble Club - crowned Sydenhams One champions last Saturday – are showing no signs of easing up.

They triumphed 3-0 at Andover New Street last night, their 30th win in 37 league games.

All three goals were scored by former Sholing marksman Dougie Rowe.

Hamble host Alton on Saturday, while Bush Hill are at home to Hayling United.
