WAYNE Mew looks like heading into the Southern League next season after parting company with Sydenhams Premier outfit Romsey.
Mew and assistant Stuart Long are joining Craig Davis’s management team at Fleet Town, who are set for a reprieve from relegation from the Evo-Stik Southern Division One Central.
Although former Bashley and AFC Totton midfielder Davis was unable to halt Fleet’s early- season slide and pull them clear of the relegation zone, they are almost certain to retain their Step 4 status following the demise of divisional rivals Bedfont Town who have resigned from the league.
Mew – who led Romsey to a highly respectable eighth in the Sydenhams Premier – said: “There were no opportunitites in the Wessex League and the only contact I had was from Craig.
“Where Craig is a player-manager, he needed someone in the dugout and asked if I would look after that.
“He also needed someone to help on the coaching side, so Stuart is coming up there with me. It’s all fitted in quite nicely."
