GE Hamble have clinched a trio of new signings for the Sydenhams Premier Division campaign.

Co-manager Dave Lewis has con¬ firmed the arrival of Joe Bye, Liam Crook and Sean Thurgood at Follands Park.

Former AFC Totton midfielder Bye, who played for Blackfield & Langley last season, is well on the mend from the severe facial injuries he suffered after being attacked during a night out in a Portsmouth casino in April.

Left-sided midfielder Crook, who began his career with AFC Bournemouth, finished last season with Brockenhurst having previously played for Sholing, Winchester City, Gosport Borough and Lymington Town.

Thurgood, a central midfielder, joins the Planemakers from divisional rivals Hayling United. He is already well known to at least two of the Hamble squad, having played at Winchester City with Jamie Musselwhite and Lloyd Webber.

“We do try and target players rather than just get numbers in and all three of these lads have impressed us over the last couple of seasons,” said Lewis.

“They’ve all stood out against us and have been on our radar for some time.

“We’ve invariably won more games than we’ve lost over the last couple of seasons, but each one of these players has caused us problems with their individual attributes and they will all bring different qualities to the squad.”

On the debit side, Hamble have lost skipper and midfielder James Roden, who is believed to be joining league rivals Fareham Town.

“James was in the same BAT side as me and has given us three great years,” said Lewis.

“Fareham have got themselves a good player. He’s a brilliant lad who will be missed and I wish him all the best. The door is open if he ever wants to come back.”

With their scheduled pre-season friendly at Brockenhurst cancelled, Hamble are looking for new opponents to visit on July 10 and 17.
