Southampton’s rising athletics star Mo Mahamed made it four wins in four appearances to join a host of local successes at the Hampshire Cross County League last stop at Bournemouth’s King’s Park.

Mahamed, who was absent from January’s meet in Reading, stole the show once more in the under-17s men race, claiming his fourth race win this season, and beating his nearest rival by 26 seconds.

That victory – following his Southern Cross Country Championships triumph – confirms his first place in the overall rankings this term.

Jamie Knapp, Mahamed’s team-mate, was also celebrating after coming runner-up in the men’s senior race, confirming second for the season, and helping Southampton to silver in the final team standings in Division 1.

Mo’s brother Zak Mahamed claimed top spot in the under 15s championships overall after winning three of the five stages, including the Bournemouth event.

Southampton’s Isabel Richardson was also on form, continuing her dominance in the under 13 girls by winning the final race to become individual champion in that age group. Poppy Wright & Phoebe Moriarty-Palios backed Richardson up to take the team honours.

Meanwhile, Winchester & District’s star Carmen Sanchez-Toribio won the women’s race ahead of fellow club runner Lucy Elliott, who crossed the line third, but won the veterans’ group with that time.

That result confirmed that Sanchez-Toribio ends the campaign in second, while Elliott finished fourth in the senior group and lifted the veterans’ crown.

Fellow vet Karen Rushton – who finished second in Bournemouth – claimed silver for the season.

Winchester’s women claimed second in the senior team league and top in the veteran division.

In the under 17 women’s race New Forest Runners’ Hannah Froud impressed with a silver medal berth, meaning she secured third overall.

Southampton won the under 17 women’s team standings thanks to Anna Sharp, Alana Spiers and Helen Polden’s exploits this term.

Elsewhere, Calum Upton from Winchester & District claimed bronze overall in the under 20 men after a fourth place at King’s Park.
