COMMONWEALTH Games gold medal star Kelly Simm was among the winners when the Eastleigh Sports Awards were held at The Ageas Bowl last night.

The 19-year-old won the Senior Sportsperson of the Year award after a 12-month period that included being part of the England team that won the Women's artistic team all-around gold in Glasgow.

Simm’s coach, Keith Richardson, was voted Performance Coach of the Year while another Dynamo Gymnastics Club official, Kerri Upton, collected the Participation Coach of the Year.

Junior Disability Sportsperson: Liam Hall (boccia, goalball).

Junior Sportsman: Andrew Douglas (pole vault).

Junior Sportswoman: Emily Hewitt (canoeing).

Junior Volunteer: Kathryn Burroughs (netball).

Senior Volunteer: Andy Moore (rugby league).

Participation Coach: Kerri Upton (gymnastics).

Performance Coach: Keith Richardson (gymnastics).

Senior Disability Sportsperson: Shane Pletts (squash).

Master Sportsperson: Brian Tubb (hockey).

Senior Sportsperson: Kelly Simm (gymnastics).

Team: Toynbee U13 Girls football.

Unsung Hero: Activity Buddy Scheme.

Two people were also presented with the ‘Service to Sport’ award, sponsored by Eastleigh Borough Council, to recognise their dedication and commitment to their sports for over 20 years.

Stephen Winter has been an integral part of Otter SFC for many years, while Paul Dibden has been part of Eastleigh Running Club since its formation.
