Hamble Hornets basketball club have issued a rallying cry for support as they head into one of their biggest games in their short history tomorrow night.

The Hornets are playing in the quarter-final of the Solent Area Basketball Association (SABA) Cup at Hamble Sports Complex and are looking for the local community to gather in numbers to cheer them on.

They face Wightlink Heat in their last eight tie of the competition, just a year-and-a-half after they were first set-up through trial sessions at Hamble Sports Community College.

The club were promoted to Division Three of the SABA leagues in their first season under the guidance of experienced coach Chris Hall, who has previously turned out for Solent Southsiders.

Within the team they have a host of players with knowledge and appearances at a high level, including international caps and games at NCAA Division 1 level.

Meaning they are well placed to continue their climb up the ranks.

The club founded by Nathan Clifford and Martin Barfoot, have showed little sign of their early momentum slowing up after a great first season.

Recently, they have concluded their league campaign with an impressive third place finish in their first term in Division Three, They now turn their attentions to winning silverware.

To top that, Hornets, who pride themselves on their attacking style, are eyeing another promotion next term.

To help them reach their goal, they are on the hunt for sponsorship.
