Participants in the Winchester Duathlon got a head start on some of their competitors with an exclusive training session on Farley Mount a week before the main event at the nearby Lainston House.

Led by previous Winchester Duathlon winner Ant Gritton, the team set up their bikes and took part in a mini duathlon themselves, with particular focus on the transition process.

Gritton, 26, is a coach for Run Camp, a company specifically designed to train runners in either a one-to-one or group format.

He said: “Try Tri completely attracts the first timer and that was the basis of what we had to day. Some people had done 10K runs or came from another sporting background, but they want to give triathlon events, or in this case a duathlon, a go.”

Gritton competed at the Beijing, Auckland and London World Triathlon Championships in 2011, 2012 and 2013, and last year completed the London Marathon.
