OLI Bromby had to settle for fourth place for a second time at the Commonwealth Youth Games in Samoa.
The Southampton AC sprinter had finished just outside the medals in the individual 100 metres and then suffered the same fate again as part of England’s 4x100m relay squad.
With Tony Harries withdrawn from the team due to a slight hamstring issue, Brighton Phoenix 1500 metres man Archie Davis was drafted in.
He joined Bromby, Hercules Wimbledon’s Rechmial Miller – the individual silver medallist – and Nick Stewart in the team.
The quartet finished fourth in 43.17 seconds behind gold medallists Botswana. Australia and Nigeria came second and third respectively.
Although he will be frustrated to have so narrowly missed out on a medal, it's another valuable step up the international ladder for 17-year-old Bromby who was also fourth in the IAAF World Youth Championships in Colombia.
