BRADLEY Kirk became the first player to retain the coveted Southampton Darts Series title this week.

Kirk, from West End, was in top form at Bitterne Park Social Club as he beat Lee Ward in the final following a 5-0 win over Paul Neary, a 6-0 success over Hampshire county teammate Gary Stafford and a 7-4 semi-final victory over Luke Getty.

Ward, from the New Forest and another county player, beat Dave Hayes 5-1, Ron Atwill 6-3 and Justin Bradshaw 7-3.

Rob Modra won the Plate competition, beating Dale Grove 4-1 in the final, Dan Rosher claimed the Bowl title, beating Kalum Tarrant 2-0, and Jane Monaghan won the Ladies’ competition, beating Tracy Smith 4-1 in the final.

Portswood, Shirley & District Mixed League: Dave Jones hit the highest finish of week one of league action with a 112 for the Saints.

Rhoda Harby checked out on 108 for New Waggoners.

Freemantle, Shirley & District: Early Division 1 leaders Osborne followed up their 8-1 opening victory with a 7-2 success over Regents Park.

Salmon Leap went one better at the top of Division 2 – replicating their success on week one with the same scoreline against Saints A.

There were a couple of 120 finishes this week – one by Kings Arms A player Donald Chapman and one from Ian Binge of Salmon Leap.

Wes Smith also checked out on 116 for the Leap.

Bitterne Park Men’s League: Mark Connor’s 104 out-shot for West End Brewery was the only ton-plus finish of note this week.

Hythe & District League: Division 3 side Hythe Club D beat Hythe & Dibden CC 8-1 with Darren Wheeler hitting a 120-game shot for the winners. Leigh McIldoon checked out on a ton for Division 1 side Fawley RBL A.

Lyndhurst Workmen’s Club League: Brockenhurst FC kept a hold on top spot with 7-0 win over Lyndhurst B while chasing Coach & Horses B had a bye. John Urquhart threw a 158 finish for Saxon A as they beat Gamekeeper 4-3 and Dan Cobb checked out on 120 for Brock.

Bishop’s Waltham & District League: Division 1 produced a handful of ton-plus finishes before the Christmas break. Top was a 112 from Bishop’s Waltham A player Mark Parsons, followed by 106 from Dave Mills of Hedge End Club and a 101 by Trevor Doller of Acorn A.

Legs of 15 darts came from Doller and partner Nick Harding in the doubles, and from Dan Hill and Grapes teammate Ron Keith and Barleycorn A’s Alan Lewington.
