THE tenth National Watersports Festival takes place in Hampshire this weekend.
More than 500 competitors in windsufing and stand-up paddle boarding will descend on Hayling Island to compete in front of 10,000 spectators, making it one of the largest festivals of its kind in the UK.
To mark a decade since its inception, the organisers are promising the biggest and best watersports festival yet, with brand new family activities, from climbing walls to a Lynx Helicopter to explore, and live music day and night.
There is also a spectacular floodlit, freestyle night-time show with the world’s freestyle windsurf champion Dieter Van der Eyken wowing spectators just feet from the shore.
Nick Dempsey, who won a silver medal at the Rio Olympics, will be chatting to the public and sharing his watersports passion and stories of the past few weeks.
The action kicks off at midday tomorrow (Friday, September 2) and runs through to Sunday at Inn on the Beach, Hayling Beachlands.
Entry is just £2, half of which goes to the Rowans Hospice. There is ample parking for spectators.
