TOTTON-based Paralympian Aaron Phipps needs your votes for a JustGiving award after climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to raise funds for Meningitis Research Foundation.
The London 2012 wheelchair rugby star is sharing his first-hand experience of meningitis with the local community during national Meningitis Awareness Week.
Now he has been nominated for Just Giving's Endurance Fundraiser of the Year award and can be voted for at justgiving.com.
Aaron contracted meningitis C in 1999, aged 15, and as a result lost the tips of his fingers and had both legs amputated below the knee.
After London 2012, he set himself the challenge of climbing the tallest free-standing mountain in the world.
"It was the first time a disabled British person had climbed without assistance," he said.
"As I got higher up, my off-road wheelchair could not with the rough terrain so I trekked for four days on my hands and knees."
