A goal behind within two minutes, Trojans were always playing catch up and eventually lost 3-0 at South Premier Division 2 rivals Ashford.
Jamie Askham caught Trojans on the break for that early goal but, though the Stoneham side enjoyed most of the possession in a tightly fought first half, they failed to create chances from open play and squandered a series of penalty corners.
A scrappy start to the second half saw few chances until a misplaced pass from a penalty corner fell kindly for Ashford's Daniel Hakl to double their lead.
Colin French went close for Trojans, a reverse stick shot clearing the crossbar with the goalkeeper beaten, before Ashford finished the game off with Tom Pitfield scoring from a penalty corner rebound.
The result leaves Trojans in the relegation zone two points from safety but with a game in hand - at Purley this Sunday - over the sides above them.
