Sue Merry scored twice as Southampton produced arguably their best performance of the season in beating South Women’s League Division 3B rivals Fareham 3-2.
Lifted by an early strike by Charlotte Ayres, Southampton led 2-0 at half-time with Merry scoring the first of her brace following a short corner.
Rebecca Reavell got Fareham back in the game shortly after half-time, but Merry’s second goal, created by Lou Hopkins, effectively ended the contest.
Reavell responded with a short corner second for Fareham, but it came too late.
