CONNOR Benzey travels to Swindon today for a tournament that could shape his future snooker career.

A good result would see the 15-year-old from Eastleigh gain promotion to the national under-21 circuit.

And that would mean he would be in contention for selection for the England junior teams and for places in world and European junior events.

Benzey needs to at least reach the semi-finals of the sixth leg of the EASB Regional Tour – South West and finish one round ahead of rankings leader Bradley Cowdroy (Bournemouth.

Anthony Rice (Fordingbridge) and Chandler’s Ford brothers Dan and Oliver Sykes could take top spot by winning the event if other results went their way.

Benzey, whose highest break is 102, has won two of the five previous tournaments on the feeder circuit and been runner-up once.

He also turns out for Chandlers Ford Central Club B in the social clubs Super League, leads the Eastleigh & District Under-19 Premier League and last week climbed to first place in the Open Series at Chandlers Ford SC.
