SAILING hero Dame Ellen MacArthur has unveiled a new yacht for her charity that that supports young people in recovery from cancer.

Dame Ellen revealed the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust's new, specially-adapted Beneteau Oceanis 45 yacht at Largs Marina in Scotland.

The purchase of the 45ft boat was possible thanks to a £200,000 boost from the People's Postcode Lottery.

The yacht will be used to take youngsters recovering from cancer on sailing trips.

"The long-term impact cancer treatment has on some young people means they may suffer with cognitive and mobility issues, leading to difficulty in balance and spatial awareness," Dame Ellen said.

"The key adaptations which have been made to this yacht will enable the Trust to expand their support and will be invaluable to the experience the young people have onboard, all of which is thanks to the players of People's Postcode Lottery."

Dame Ellen launched the boat with the help of TV presenter Matt Johnson.
