Steve Perren was crowned Southampton Darts Series summer champion after defeating all before him at the finals night.

Perren, from Hedge End, beat Wayne France and Aaron Gregory before just getting the better of PDC player Andy Jenkins, 7-6, to reach the final.

There he took on Southsea’s Jane Monaghan who had been in great form to make it to the last two – beating Dave Hayes, and Justin Bradshaw and Jack Seymour in three tight games.

However it was a different story in the final where Perren, who registered the most 180s throughout the season, romped to an 8-0 victory.

Monaghan also lost out in the ladies’ final – beaten 4-3 by Australian Corrine Hammond who checked out on 170 during the evening.

John Smith won a top quality youth section with a 4-2 win over Chris Duff jnr in the final and the Over-50s title went to Dave Witts who defeated Conrad Taute 4-0.

Bishop’s Waltham & District League: Division 1 winners Hedge End Club finished off their short summer season with their seventh victory in ten matches.

They defeated Grapes 6-2 while runners-up Bishop’s Waltham A were held to a 4-4 draw by bottom side Acorn A.

Bishop’s Waltham B secured the Division 2 title, Park Gate B were winners of Division 3 and Spike Islander won Division 4 with four points to spare.

Top finish in the final week went to Albert Paddington who checked out on 147 for Barleycorn A. Jason Richards finished on 138 for Bishop’s Waltham A, Steve Perren was two behind with a 136 out-shot for Hedge End, John Field checked out on 128 for Fox & Hounds, Black Dog’s Andy Reynolds on 112 and there was a 107 finish by Bugle’s Dave White.

Perren threw a 14-dart leg and there were 15-darters by Trevor Doller (Acorn A), Alan Rick (Acorn A) and Roger Jeans & Craig Harrington in the pairs. Rich Barton recorded a 16-dart leg for Spike Islander.
