An 11-year-old schoolgirl is aiming high in the sport of taekwondo.

Phoenix Goodman, who attends The Romsey School, has been taking part in the martial art for the last few years.

She was introduced to it in a bid to help both her fitness and some shyness.

Thanks to her coach, Master Joe Brown, trainer Steve Johnson, and assistant coaches Craig Roppolo and Adam Harris, Goodman is now a confident athlete training over seven hours a week at BTS in Southampton.

She won gold at a recent G1 event in Austria - the highest medal outside the European, World and Olympic games.

It is believed she was the only child from the south of England to achieve this feat.

Goodman also won gold for the third time at the British National Championships this year in her weight division -33kg.

She is sponsored by Innovation Visual and Vision Scaffolding which enables her to compete at bigger events.
