By Jack Hyom Almost 150 expectant spectators witnessed a fine display from The Wizard of Wishaw' John Higgins at Chandler's Ford Snooker Club.

The former world champion won all 10 challenge matches against some of the best club players in the south.

Higgins took the trip down south to put on a superb exhibition of snooker - which saw nine club players paying to have a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Dave Mumford, Mark McClean, Dan Hildyard, Mike Finn, Jason Hildyard, Jordan Wimbourne, Aaron McIntyre, Alex Dunkley and Matt Woods all had a crack at Higgins.

But the Scot rattled in breaks of 122 and 101, as well as a further seven half centuries, to take all 10 frames, to the delight of the fans.

John also crafted a superb 147 in the line up challenge.

With the crowd waiting nervously for the first break off, Dave Mumford stepped up to challenge the current Masters Champion.

Mumford got in early with a 21, but Higgins replied with an outstanding 84.

He continued in this vain, beating Mark McClean and Dan Hildyard with ease.

McClean stepped up again, only to score nine points before losing the frame!

Before that, the fourth frame saw ex-England international Mike Finn take on Higgins.

With great hopes of stealing a shock victory, Finn ran out of position on 12 and Higgins didn't put a finger wrong.

Higgins was sabotaged by fans for autographs and pleasantries in the mid-session interval and then normal services resumed as he easily disposed of Roll Up Champion Jason Hildyard, young starlet Jordon Wimbourne and Aaron McIntyre.

Alex Dunkley offered some resistance before a chain of unfortunate fouls destroyed his chances.

Higgins capped off the afternoon with a fine win over Matt Woods.
