Daily Echo: James Foad James Foad

SOUTHAMPTON rower James Foad has been named in Great Britain’s men’s eight crew for the second world cup of the 2012 season.

Itchen Imperial member Foad will compete in Lucerne, Switzerland, next week as he continues his preparations for the Olympic Games.

He is joined in the boat by Alton’s Alex Partridge, as the GB team look to improve on their second-placed finish in the opening world cup of the year.

“We are still working on fine-tuning the team as the London Games approaches,” said GB Rowing team performance director David Tanner.

“The benefit of consistent and significant investment by the National Lottery in our team over the past four years has given us a tremendous strength across the disciplines and gives us several options to consider.”

The Lucerne world cup starts on Friday, May 25, and runs until Sunday, May 27.
