Corhampton's Neil Raymond will face Surrey's Max Williams in the last 64 of the British Amateur Championship today, as the match play stages begin.

Hampshire and England star Raymond breezed through the 36-hole stroke play qualifier in Kent, finishing on level-par and in a tie for tenth.

The 27-year-old will start his knockout campaign with a match against Cuddington Golf Club's Williams.

The pair are due to tee off at 1.10pm at Royal Cinque Ports.

Fresh from his victory in the St Andrews Links Trophy earlier this month, Raymond is one of the form players in the field.

He is gunning for one of the biggest prizes in world amateur golf this week, with the winner earning a place in the field at next month's Open Championship, as well as the 2014 US Open. Traditionally, an invite to the Masters is also received.

Double Brabazon champion Raymond is the sole Hampshire representative left in the tournament.

His county and England colleague Harry Ellis endured a disappointing second round to miss out on the knockout stages.

After shooting four-over round Prince's, a score that put him right on the bubble, the 17-year-old English Amateur champion signed for an eight-over 79 at Royal Cinque Ports. His plus-12 total put him down into a tie for 229th.

Brokenhurst Manor's Jack Singh-Brar followed up his eight-over-par round at Prince's on day one with an impressive level-par effort at Royal Cinque Ports on day two, but the damage had already been done for the 16-year-old, who ended up in a tie for 132nd.
