Rose thumps Rock at World Match Play

HAMPSHIRE'S Justin Rose thrashed fellow Englishman Robert Rock 7&6 in his opening match at the Volvo World Match Play Championship.

The former North Hants member won six of the first eight holes en route to victory, which was wrapped up at the 12th hole of the Finca Cortesin course, in Andalucia, Spain.

Rose will now play Open champion Darren Clarke tomorrow afternoon in the final round of the group stage.
