The England and Wales Cricket Board has made Kevin Pietersen available for his first LV County Championship match for three years.

Pietersen has not played a first-class match for Hampshire since June 2005, when he had yet to make his England debut.

But he is set to play in the Championship match against Justin Langer's Somerset at batter-friendly Taunton from May 7-10.

Pietersen will also play two Friends Provident Trophy matches at the beginning of May.

He will make his first Hawks appearance since last season's final when he plays two South Group games at the Rose Bowl over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Pietersen will play under the floodlights against the Somerset Sabres on May 2 and against the Gloucestershire Gladiators on May 4 before the trip to Taunton three days later.
