Metropolitan Police 10
Barnet Saracens Elizabethans 19
Having already won convincingly in September, justice was done on Saturday as Barnet Saracens Elizabethans secured a league double over Metropolitan Police in superb playing conditions at East Molesley.
It was the first time the Byng Road side have played at the Met's Thames riverside playing field, and it proved to be a baptism to remember.
The scoreline suggested a close contest, but Barnet were under no threat as they kept the police under lock-and-key from kick-off to the final whistle.
Two converted tries to Barnet in opening 20 minutes fashioned a handy lead for the visitors.
Peter Moulton scored under the posts after a kick-and-chase.
Willy Pritchard then crossed from close range for a simple try. Fly-half Rob Glenister had no difficulty knocking over the conversions.
A rare moment of sloppy Barnet defending allowed the Met back into the match with a try just before the break, but Moulton quickly replied with a second try to re-establish a confortable buffer.
A host of wasted chances and a late try from the Met narrowed the final margin.
The scoreline did not fully reflect the quality of Barnet's performance.
It was a thoroughly-deserved victory.
