Trojans managed to hold on to a slender winning margin to produce their first away win of the season.

And their victory – 14-12 at Farnham – could have been down to a rush-of-blood decision by one of their opponents in the dying stages.

The Stoneham Lane side were two points in front when they had a kickable penalty decision go against them – five metres out and close to the posts.

But, instead of taking the option to kick, a Farnham player took a quick tap and knocked-on in the process.

Trojans’ earlier points had came from wing Nik Wotton, whose first half try following some good mauling, was converted by Dan Woods.

The 7-0 lead was quickly cancelled out by Farnham who then went ahead with a second try.

Trojans upped their game in difficult conditions, with the forwards dominating – helped perhaps by J-P Cooke coming on as replacement prop for the first time in five years to extend his first team playing career to 20 years.

On 35 minutes a quick backs move resulted in wing Jake Bailey speeding over to score on his debut and Woods’ conversion put Trojans two points ahead.
