Romsey blazed their way to 54 points for the second Hampshire League 2 game in a row – this time at Chineham.
Tries in the 54-14 victory came from captain Dan Penn Newman, Jack Finch, Rob Hart, Andy Herriot and Brendan Streather who, in his first game for the club, put in a great shift at full back.
Another new recruit, No 8 Rob Hart, said: “There was a bit of white line fever at the start of the game that stopped us maximising some early opportunities against a determined Chineham team.
“But we soon settled down into the rhythm of our game plan and, with cooler heads, the tries started to come.”
Coach Matthew Southey added: “Determined defence and a new impetus in attitude and commitment to the club is now starting to pay dividends.
“The team is very focused on their next league encounter against their old coach and a Southampton team (October 21) looking to keep their position at the top of Hampshire 2.”
Fawley lost at home to Aldershot & Fleet 12-5.
