Already assured of his Finn class gold at the ISAF Sailing World Cup event in Hyeres, France, Lymington’s Ben Ainslie finished his regatta in style by winning today’s medal race to end the event with a 40-point margin over silver medallist Zach Railey of the United States.
Triple Olympic champion Ainslie, with a scoreline boasting six race wins from the ten races, had an unassailable 29-point lead at the end of yesterday’s races.
Ainslie said: “It’s been a really good week, I’m happy with the result and it’s nice to win with a day to spare.”
