We often ask for supporters to get behind the team and frankly our present position means we need that help more than ever.

I feel very sorry for Nigel Pearson.

The team was not in the best position when he arrived but his bad luck with injuries etc has been untrue.

I managed over 1,000 games but can never ever remember having three goalkeepers injured at the same time.

In addition he has lost players such as the inspirational Andrew Davies and you could well have done without a couple of others misbehaving away from the club.

Also, it does not help that others are rocking the boat at present.

Thanks in advance I have a connection and a deep affection for Saints going back 35 years. I know the loyal fringe, the ones that make the noise. I grew up with them and they will realise how much we need their help now and I thank them in advance for that.

Also, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the regulars in the hospitality suites who take tables and places, putting good money into the club.

Today in fact there are over 900 places taken up thanks to the hard work of John O'Sullivan, Vivian, Helen etc.

When I rejoined the club nearly two years ago, I was asked to take on the task of encouraging back the many business and individuals who had stopped attending games which had led to the closure on matchdays of the biggest suite.

I was able, by phoning around and visiting various people, to encourage them to come back. And I must say that days like today, when the Ambassadors Suite is overflowing, give me so much enjoyment.

Not only am I able to meet two or three ex-players each game, who also enjoy meeting up again, but it gives me a wonderful feeling to be surrounded by genuine people who, like the players and myself, have their heart truly in the club and want it to do well for the right reasons.

I truly hope all of their dedication and support is repaid by good results over the next five games.
