I was at the game and didn't see lots of people leaving early. Had they left as early as you suggest, they would have missed the substitution that you refer to. Then you would not have been able to pass the information on and comment negatively on a very promising player. I hope you enjoyed your pint at the Joshua. It is a pity your wife insisted on you missing the game, and lets hope you manage to be more assertive in the future.

All clubs have the plastics who expand the numbers when the team is in the higher leagues. We averaged 21k in Div1 and 26k in the Championship so yes the 'extras' aren't as passionate but it all adds up financially.

There were times today when we had to take control of the ball and keep possession and make the pass.

Instead it was in the air and hooooooof before losing possession so that Sunderland could get back on the ball.

Believe me when I say they are not all that as a Team (reminded me of Boro in the Championship)

Why are our players so shot shy? So many chances to hit a first time shot. Go for it lads, if it balloons off into the crowd so what? Have another go.

Really today should have ended up 0-0 but a moment of sloppy defending gifted them a goal. Overall our defence is much better but still makes mistakes.

I totally agree about Lallana but we've got to be able to field a side without him or anyone else for that matter.

Given his injury the side fielded today is the one I would have picked and with the likes of Punch, Spider, Cork and Ramirez I would still have expected to create.

I have no idea what should happen next as we have no idea of the input and direction of the stratagem sessions at the club but I do think Nicola should look someone with answers that ticks boxes because Les Reed and Nigel Adkins don't have the answers we need to climb out of our survival quest and kick on. Personally I'd like to explore the idea of Nigel Adkins as boss of development in Reeds place and bring in a hard nosed organised manager for the firsts. It's time to stop ****-footing around and kick some butts.

Maybe a couple of new players in January will fix it and all will be well? Maybe?

Today proved how much we rely on lallana, remember games in previous seasons when he didn't play and we struggled?
We were dis jointed today. Lambert is a typical no 10 who needs to creat but there was not many players offering, and the understanding with mayaka wasn't there.
Where was Jay rod? £7m and didn't play when we need goals, these are the times I question Adkins who did sign him.

Dan very well put. The fact that we have given away 6 invaluable home points to 2 fellow strugglers underlines we have a problem somewhere.

I cannot fathom the negativity by some against Guly, today he came on and instantly worked the ball into a dangerous position.

Where is Lee? A far better player than Steve de Ridder.

This club has a brilliant future with strong performances by the U21 and u18 squads but right now the senior squad is struggling to escape a fast return to the Championship.

Everything must be done to prevent the throwing away our Premier status.

The 2 home defeats to other strugglers worries me greatly.

I think we'd still benefit from more cover at CB.
However, strange a it may sound, I think after our recent games against Reading and Sunderland in particular,I think our problem is lack of penetration in the final third. Seems like we're dominating,but not killing teams off..
We don't seem to have enough shots on target, so it seems clear we're not getting the ball to players in clear shooting positions enough, and also we're not hitting it early enough when we get a chance. So maybe those calling for attacking reinforcements aren't actually too wrong?

glory hunters there or not, we have always had way more 'solid' than 12000, more like 20000.

So before yesterday’s game our recent form had us 5th in the league. One loss on a day when the weather didn’t help our style of play, and there's doom gloom. Let’s just look at the bigger picture. We were always going to lose more games than we won this season. Back to back promotions are one thing. But we are in the PL now playing the big boys, and not sitting in a relegation shot. It could be a lot worse. For me the biggest improvement has been our back line. Shipping goals for funny at the start of the season, I feel for the most part the boys have learnt quickly, still improvements to make, but heading in the right direction.

I was excited to see Mayuka start a game, but it was an English December mudbath, and I always think that players like Mayuka, Guly, and Gaston do not realise what they are letting themselves in for when they come to England - their skills are obliterated by pitch conditions for half the season.

All clubs have the plastics who expand the numbers when the team is in the higher leagues. We averaged 21k in Div1 and 26k in the Championship so yes the 'extras' aren't as passionate but it all adds up financially.

Problem is Crisp that every club could argue the middle class point re today's prawn sandwich football...atmospher e at the Dell was awesome when everyone ie seats included joined in... However poor working class do take their club to the heart of community, as George Clooney would say"what else".. We are a middle class club, and yet on our day we are much bigger than many clubs and suprise other supporters..but during average times too many of our fans do not deliver... Truth to tell we are like the Villa and Pmuff = Burrmingam..we are much bigger but they are more vocal..it means more to them because there is nothing else...think on it.

Some truth in what you are saying. We have exceeded 50k at Fratton though. The fact is you have never had a capacity as big, and you have got too many plastic fans at the mo. After the fans have got used to being a bit more average than the last couple of seasons, the attendances will drop off, and you will find a harder core following.

I will give you this when you were promoted unde Alan Ball ..gone but not forgotten you had 26k at Fratton.. before that 36.5K agains wait for it us!! Saints figures were alweays interesting I have been at games were you could not move and 'official' attendance 23k..been at other games were official figures were 26k and spaces..pay on the gate days and semi-ticketed.. During the early 80's most gates were 30k undeclared...as was.. Like for like and equal success with bigger stadiums you would be circa 26+k a week we would be 35+k..regrettably you make more noise...and there it is. Do not forget neither of us have enough room on big games and neither fill our small ones.

was it ever under 9000 capacity no for a period of games ,at end of the day its about now .we have 30.000 and you have 11.since 2000 we have had average 10.000 more fans than you more fans at away games .but importantly we get 13.000 more fans each home game .which gives us more of a structure .because southampton city council backed the club to build the new stadium .after the eastleigh council issue ,stoneham would of been a better site .but southampton council always wantd to help till the site came avaliable .but its true that portsmouth council never game pompey any support for a stadium or training ground .it was one of the reasons manadaric went to liecester .because the council backed them and there stadium.rather like st marys .but that was at the time the biginning of the end .after him who bought you out of admin at the time .but you never learned from it ,went on to another 2 administrations .clearly he knew some thing

We used to get 26k quite a lot for the bigger games as that was what the capacity was pegged to when the Fratton End was dismantled.

Dont agree on 35+ as you have never had those. It is all about sustained growth and winning fans over though. You couldn't do it at the Dell due to Justice Taylor, we have never had the chance at FP because of greedy bosses.

I would love to go back to terraces though. They were great. Better noise as well, and you could always move at half time if you fancied it.

Simple..although we never had 35k gates..it was because we could not get past our 32.5k capacity less the cordoned off waste of space section.. For the big 7 games we could and I speak from ticketing situation knowledge and as an ex shareholder with trading brief KNOW that 38k-50k was the figure for these games..an increased capacity for other games would mean nothing..totally accepted.. Look at Everton, Villa, Sunderland, etc their smaller games are only 2-4000 max better than ours however they have the capacity for the bigger games hence the average difference.. Fair does?

bit like chairai then nothing changes .19 million is a good bit of money though .its up to the high court now .but his 19 million saved you going to admin at the time ,but it only prolonged the agony .that is ongoing

Kenny. I would say you are deluded a bit there. You got a new stadium then had success. At the Dell, you only ever filled it when the big teams arrived. We have never had a new stadium so, until we get one sorted, we won't see the effect either. On delusionment, a lot of our fans are suffering from that at the mo, and didnt want to support BC (At the Bournemouth game there was a good feeling, as we thought he had gone, then after realising it was a false dawn we dropped 6K immediately), plus having to fork out extra dough for the trust during difficult economic times. I will give you this when you were promoted unde Alan Ball ..gone but not forgotten you had 26k at Fratton.. before that 36.5K agains wait for it us!! After the fans have got used to being a bit more average than the last couple of seasons, the attendances will drop off, and you will find a harder core following.

He said he would turn the stadium round, but the way he planned to do it was to have one season with the fans 45 yards or so from the action if he did it sooner, or a lot nearer if we could wait another season. I didn't fall for it and was very vocal about it, but he got his way, and the fans said they would wait, then he went. Like I say clever.

Agree. The joining of the Europa and "Champions" league may reduce things slightly thereby omitting the sham thursday games and weakened weekend teams.

I knew Charlton had a 70k record. Didnt know about Wolves, Mind you they were good in the fifties. I believe Man City have the English att record.

The thing is. this big 16 will become a world league in the near future. More BS I fear.

I would like to see the wages capped at 100k a year, and having coaches produce 3/4 of each team. That is one area where your club have been rather good.

Kenny. I would say you are deluded a bit there. You got a new stadium then had success. At the Dell, you only ever filled it when the big teams arrived. We have never had a new stadium so, until we get one sorted, we won't see the effect either. On delusionment, a lot of our fans are suffering from that at the mo, and didnt want to support BC (At the Bournemouth game there was a good feeling, as we thought he had gone, then after realising it was a false dawn we dropped 6K immediately), plus having to fork out extra dough for the trust during difficult economic times. We did get 23/24k even in the fourth div last time - I remember it clearly.

I will give you this when you were promoted unde Alan Ball ..gone but not forgotten you had 26k at Fratton.. before that 36.5K agains wait for it us!! Saints figures were alweays interesting I have been at games were you could not move and 'official' attendance 23k..been at other games were official figures were 26k and spaces..pay on the gate days and semi-ticketed.. During the early 80's most gates were 30k undeclared...as was.. Like for like and equal success with bigger stadiums you would be circa 26+k a week we would be 35+k..regrettably you make more noise...and there it is. Do not forget neither of us have enough room on big games and neither fill our small ones.

The decline for the SFC's QPR's Ipswich's et al began just before prem when Mufco lobbied for all home gate money...the morals are debatable although commercially correct, however SKY turned football into a brand and totally ruined it for the fan but built it for the 'consumer'..be clear Spain has been giving all it's revenue to Barca and Real forever HORRID: My view, sell every kit you can, every box you can, double your stadium, BUT there must be a limit to how much anyone can spend buying a title...

Agree on all. The two spanish clubs get 50pc of the tv money. The other clubs have started to get together and are chalenging this. Madrid had their training ground "bought" for them recently by the government for some ridiculous amount - was it 250 million!
