Arsenal's Theo Walcott says his return to St Mary's will be a "special moment"

Daily Echo: Theo Walcott Theo Walcott

THEO Walcott admits tomorrow’s return to St Mary’s will be a “special moment” for him.

The England international will be playing against Saints on Hampshire soil for the first time since leaving the club to sign for Arsenal almost seven years ago.

Walcott made a subdued celebration after he scored in the 6-1 win over the Saints at the Emirates Stadium in September, and is clearly relishing the opportunity to return to the club where he was the youngest player to appear in the first team.

“It will be a very tough occasion against Southampton, but it is one I am really looking forward to,” Walcott said.

“It will be a very special moment for me and Alex (Oxlade-Chamberlain), and also for some of the fans to see us come back to the club.”

Isn't it amazing how many players have left us and come back to score against us! Just imagine if we had them all playing for us with a mix of what we already have!

As much as I respect Theo and Alex I do get a bit tired of all this 'special occassion' stuff. They left for the dosh - end of. Nice to be back and hey I won't celebrate if I score - but whilst all that is nice - if they really wanted to say thanks for bringing me on as a kid they would be doing what the likes of Adam and Mat did and show some loyalty - if only for a few seasons. Appreciate Theo didn't have as much to say over the matter asd Alex did but they left when all is said and done - trousered the money all this stuff about great place to be etc is a little patronising
