Cork out to prove a point to Chelsea

Jack Cork Jack Cork

Jack Cork is aiming to prove to Chelsea he has improved from the player who never got a game at Stamford Bridge by helping Saints knock the holders out of the FA Cup this afternoon.

The 23-year-old joined Chelsea aged nine and rose through the ranks at Stamford Bridge but never got a first team game as expensive signing after expensive signing pushed him down the pecking order.

Cork ended up farmed out on loan six times before his permanent move to Saints almost 18 months ago.

“I am looking forward to playing against them,” he said ahead of the third round tie at St Mary’s.

“I never got the opportunity to play with them when I was there so hopefully we can go and put a good performance in. I am looking forward to seeing some old faces."

Ah yes, ten - very significant.

I told the wife about your post and she said: "Although they will know ten is the base of the decimal numeral system, do you think the skates will know that ten is the smallest number that cannot be expressed as the difference between any integer and the total number of coprimes between it?"

I explained that they wouldn't, but Mr Seed was fully aware that the Roman sign for ten is V and, coming from the Western end of the M27, that's a sign they would understand.

Corky is Quality.

The fact that he was part of the ENGLAND SET-UP when he signed confirms it.

SOUTHAMPTON AND ENGLAND - a winning Combination !!!

Changing subject :

Who's likes Wet Spam ??

Answer : No-one

But you gotta admit that despite taking the p*ss out of Big Sam last season - he has got himself organised with transfer dealings and shows his experience at this level.

It's definitely something THE MIGHTY SOUTHAMPTON could improve on.

WE CAN FINISH ABOVE WET SPAM IN THE LEAGUE - NO ISSUE.

And when they come down with the aggressive - Who the f*cking hell are we when they visit St Mary's ...

It's nice to have a week off from the Prem. It should be an open game so let's show what we can do. Pick a strong team but rest those that are obviously tiring - Shaw and Lambert - and give a chance to those currently on the bench.

Boruc in goal as he needs the match practice if he's being considered as our number 1.

V = ten? You can do my tax returns!

I guess you were working on the principle that any self-respecting Saint would give the sign with two hands.

Anyway, will you be there today? In fact who WILL be there today who we might bump into after the match at the Joshua Tree?

I'll be in last year's red and white, big little Strassie will have his new white away shirt and little little Strassie will be in the sash.

So, if you see us there with our 6' 6" cousin, I hope to meet you.

Cork to score? I was expecting him to have a rest or be kept in reserve on the bench. Maybe he'll be captain for the day and revert to centre back alongside Jos to give Jose and Yosh a rest.

saintlysoul says...

From what Atkins said pre match on the Saints Player I think he's going to put out a strong side in fact not much different to the side he put out against Arsenal. Cork will play on the basis that no doubt he's sad he wants to as h has 'a point' to prove as far as Chelsea is concered. If Clyne isn't fit then Richardson will no doubt be played at right back to allow Cork is midfield place. The only possible changes I can see is Lambert will be rested and Rodriugeuz played apart from that no changes except if Ramirez isn't fit would expect JWP to come in.

Adkins would like a run in ther FA cup and he won't make the mistake he made in the League Cup by putting out what was effectively a 'reserve side.' Who knows? hatever he does I wish him and the lads well and lets hope we're in for a good game. Enjy!!!!

At a glance this team doesn't seem as good as the current one but when you go through position by position actually several would get in imo.

I bet your students hate you for your nitpicking attitude, but still, I guess I now make less grammar errors thanks to your coaching on here.

I must admit Roman numerals were never my strong point. I recall my teacher being quite exasperated at school when he asked what happened in 1939 and I put my hand up and said "The outbreak of World War Eleven sir!"

Not at the match today because I heard there's a very annoying garlic-breathed Froggie-based know-all tutor going who keeps telling people that skate is the plural of skate and not skates. I bet he gets the Roman five.

Spot on N.Wales but what can you do? Confucious also goes all Latin with 'recall'. Of course, we DO use 'recall' when we mean 'remember' but should really use it only to mean 'have back', as in 'The Saints strikers couldn't hit a barn door between them, so Billy Sharp was recalled from Forest.'

Oh well, the higher the fewer ....
