Overwhelming majority disagree with Adkins' sacking (From Daily Echo)

Oh here we go...what a surprise....more doom and gloom by the Echo Advertiser...trying to stir it up again...after starting the day with some good reports too.

It's funny that the skate journo hasn't put his name against these negative stories.

It's obvious that nobody agreed with it when it happened but now everyone has been told the full story and knows the facts about this new manager, I think people may be coming to terms with Nigel leaving. I personally was very angry and shocked when the news came out but now I am excited about the future of Southampton FC.

Two months ago I argued with fellow fans that NA should be given time when they were saying he should be sacked. The same fans are now saying he should have stayed. Why's that? Because we are all fickle me included. NC is not fickle, he's driven, single minded, calculated and the best man for the job he's doing. I think NA is a great guy. He left Friday on a high and very, very employable. If he had been replaced in November, as a lot of fans wanted, he would not have been in such a great position. So perhaps NC did show some professional loyalty, giving him the chance to get us a bit of space between the bottom 3. The new guy sound just what is needed for various reasons, was NA? I don’t know, all I hope is Nigel Adkins goes on to be successful. NC has given him a great spring board to continue his career, better than when he joined. As for this decision, was NC right to sack him, well that’s just being emotive. But yes probably was. At this time, a different question all together. For Nigel Adkins and the sensibility of us fans, then perhaps not. But when the dust settles, NA will get a great job I’m sure, Saints will get stronger and climb the table and probably finish a comfortable 6 to7 from bottom, ready for a big push next year. NC’s 5 year plan has just got better (perhaps). After all this is what he should be judged on, as this is what he promised. 3 points against Everton would be fantastic and even better if the new manager can experience true Southampton support. He deserves it, as he’s put is reputation on the line and will be trying his best to get the result for our club. With our support he could be the new special one. COYR

Not very many agreed with Cortese when he appointed Adkins.

Personally I dont like that Adkins has gone, but I think that the idea of a protest is a bit mad TBH

I must admit i liked Adkins - done well for us and was just finding his feet in the prem - i am dissappointed that the club treated him with such little respect, however, the club is bigger than one man, so i am as always supporting the saints and the new man in at the top.

i am believing that we may be able to secure quality spanish and argentine signings with this guy at the helm, it just remains to eb seen if these guys can cut it in the prem

93% say it was wrong and the 7% Got to be "The Adkins Out" idiots. . .! All we want to know is the truth and with Nigel most probably on a gaffing order (Otherwise cortese wouldn't of paid him off)We will never know.
Hope the new boss isn't in just to sell off the players and line corteses pocket :(

Adkins said he "enjoyed a good working relationship with Cortese" and "they were together as one." It turns out that neither was the case since last season. The continual, amusing, cliched, gloss was just that then?

Without knowing exactly what targets Nigel Adkins was working towards no-one can answer the question as to whether or not he should have been sacked.

Likewise, until May no-one can make comment upon how good his replacement is and whether the timing was correct or not.

Harsh as it may be, the decision has to be accepted by everyone because it will not be changed. Together we now need to move on, support the new Management and the team.

Thank you to Nigel and your coaches for everything you have done. I hope that we as a group are able to applaud you together at some point because the main thing I am upset about is that we have not been able to say that thank you.

Read the other DE artical it's a good read. This guy has a lot going for him apparently. I'm sure he wouldn't want to blot his copy book. Just like NA, when he joined, he will want to enhance it. Second point: I very much doubt he's working for free, I wouldn't. But I would take a lower wage initially in order to progress the the super bucks either at this club or another, just like NA can do now, if that's what he wants. Its all about tonight and the future now, time to let go and move on. COYR

the new guy has good recommendations, both Mouriniho and Pep have come out this week and said what a good manager he was at one point was being lined up by Real Madrid to manage there. Obviously he is no idiot, but the gamble is the language barrier and also the lack of knowledge about players and the league in which we play, fingers crossed COYR 3 points tonight please

Quite agree. Am I happy about what happened? No. But it has. Is there anything can be done about it? No? Should we do anything? Well I was able to get down tonight I would make my voice heard as I am sure there will be a chorus "Theres only one Nigel Adkins" before the match. But that it. Thats got to be the end.

We have suffered through Branfoot.. for those old enough to remember and of course the Dark Lord. Those things we could and should have taken action about. But now?

I highly doubt that NC has paid any attention at all to a hasty online poll conducted by this paper.
Frankly DE you are trying to set yourself up to be something amazing and you are using language usually found in the red tops.

No message at all has been sent to Cortese; The only thing that has happened is that a lot of upset fans have taken part in a poll asking the blindingly obvious.
Get over yourself DE and try some proper reporting for once. Perhaps if you didn't behave with your collective heads stuck up your singular marmite starfish you might actually get some information out of St Mary's once in a while.
